Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3, and polls in Taylor County are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Early voting ran from Oct. 19 through Oct. 30. Registration closed Oct. 5, so you can only vote if you're already registered.

Texas requires one approved photo ID. Accepted IDs include a Texas driver's license, an Election Identification Certificate, a personal ID card, a handgun license, a U.S. passport, a military ID or a citizenship certificate with a photo. If you don't have one and can't reasonably get one, you can still vote. You'll show a supporting document, such as a certified birth certificate, and sign a Reasonable Impediment Declaration.

You can check your registration through the Secretary of State's 'Am I Registered?' tool at VoteTexas.gov and look up a sample ballot online. On the ballot this year are races for U.S. Senate, governor, U.S. House District 19 and Texas House District 71. CIVILIAN does not endorse candidates.
