Abbott and Paxton both rally at the same south Abilene barbecue spot in final week
The governor came on Oct. 26 and the Senate candidate on Oct. 28, both at Betty Rose's Little Brisket. State Rep. candidate Jay Hardaway joined both.
CountyTwo of Texas's top Republicans campaigned at the same place in south Abilene in the last week of early voting: Betty Rose's Little Brisket.
Gov. Greg Abbott came on Monday, Oct. 26, as part of his 'Let's Roll' get-out-the-vote tour, urging Republicans to turn out for the midterms. Jay Hardaway, the Republican candidate for Texas House District 71, joined him. Abbott's next stop was Inez.
Two days later, on Wednesday, Oct. 28, Attorney General Ken Paxton stopped at Betty Rose's on his 'Come and Take It' tour in his U.S. Senate race against Democrat James Talarico. He had already been to Odessa and San Angelo that day and was headed to Beaumont next. Hardaway and U.S. Sen. John Barrasso of Wyoming appeared with him. Paxton talked about the cost of living, energy and getting out to vote.
Supporters at the Paxton event said they cared most about affordability, property taxes, immigration, public safety and protecting Social Security. Several said they wanted to show the Republican Party still has strong support in Abilene.
