B&J Welding Supply plans to spend $15.3 million on a permanent 40,000-square-foot building in Abilene, the Development Corporation of Abilene (DCOA) announced Oct. 23.

The company expects to add 24 full-time jobs and keep the three full-time employees it already has here. Since arriving in Abilene, it has operated from a temporary location at 1810 Pecan Street.

B&J sells industrial supplies and services to other businesses, and DCOA says its customers include manufacturers, health care providers and food and beverage producers. DCOA said the investment adds resources for businesses already operating in Abilene.

A state building-accessibility filing for the new showroom and fill plant lists the site as 649 Gateway Street, with work registered to begin Nov. 18, 2026.
