Breckenridge plans a new fire station to replace its 1922 home
Crews have lived in temporary quarters since early 2025. Bricks from the old building will go on the new one.
City HallBreckenridge firefighters have worked out of the 1922 former City Hall building for more than a century of service, but the city says the design no longer works: the truck bays connect straight to the living quarters, which current standards don't allow. Crews have been in temporary living quarters since February 2025.
City Manager Cynthia Northrop said the city offered the old building for sale twice and got no bids. A site for the new station has been picked, and construction is planned to start in early 2027.
The new station will have a training room, kitchen and workout room. The city plans to save bricks from the current building for the new station's front, and says the move will also spare it the cost of insuring an empty building. Northrop said the project is on schedule.
