CommunityFamilies spent Halloween at Buffalo Gap Historic Village for the annual Scarecrow Festival and Heritage Trick-or-Treat. There was trick-or-treating, face painting and crafts, scarecrows made by students from around the Big Country, and tours of the village's historic buildings.
Scott Clowdus, executive director of the Taylor County History Center, told the station the festival usually draws about 400 people. It is part of Buffalo Gap Heritage Days, a 12-day series of events about the area's history.
Heritage Days is put on by the Buffalo Gap Chamber of Commerce, Buffalo Gap Historic Village and the Buffalo Gap Improvement Corporation, and it ends Saturday, Nov. 7, with a Buffalo Hunters' Camp reenactment. A Haunted Village also came back to Buffalo Gap on the nights of Oct. 30 and 31, with 30-minute tours that mixed local history with actors and spooky scenes. Tickets were $15 in advance and $20 at the door.
