City HallThe $414.6 million operating budget the Abilene City Council adopted in September includes money for several park projects residents will start to see.
Lake Kirby gets $250,000 for a playground. Cal Young Park gets $300,000 for a new restroom and pavilion. Adventure Cove and the city's splash pads share $306,250 to restore equipment, and $390,000 is set aside for new benches, picnic tables and trash cans in parks across the city.
Beyond parks, the city says the budget pays for street work, more public safety equipment and longer recreation center hours.
