More than 950 AEP Texas customers lost power on the afternoon of Friday, Oct. 30, according to the utility's outage map.

The largest outage area covered western and southwestern Abilene, reaching west toward Tye and Dyess Air Force Base. It also took in parts of the River Oaks/Brookhollow and Elmwood neighborhoods. Within that area, the affected zone also included the Westwood Richland and Cobb Park neighborhoods and stretched toward Willis Street.

At first the map listed all three incidents as 'assessing condition,' with no restoration estimate. Within about an hour, fewer than five outages were still showing.

AEP had not said what caused the outage.
