Texas has gone 26 years without a day free of traffic deaths. Abilene groups are pushing to end that.
TxDOT's Abilene District, Hendrick Health and local first responders are teaming up on safe-driving outreach before Nov. 7.
Weather & TrafficSaturday, Nov. 7, will mark 26 years since a day passed with no one killed on a Texas road. The last day without a traffic death was Nov. 7, 2000.
More than 87,000 people have died on Texas roads since then, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.
TxDOT's Abilene District is working with Hendrick Health, local police and first responders to promote safer driving as part of the statewide #EndTheStreakTX campaign.
The campaign's main asks are simple: buckle up, put the phone away, drive the speed limit, and never drive impaired.
