The Abilene Public Library is starting a teen program called Chill Skills, aimed at the pressures of school, friends, sports, jobs and family.

The first session is Saturday, Nov. 7, at 4 p.m. in the Main Library's community room. Teens will try out simple ways to calm down and reset, then put together their own toolkit of strategies for when things get overwhelming.

The library says the goal isn't to get rid of stress, since some stress can be motivating. The goal is to practice healthier ways of responding when it builds up or lasts a long time.

More teen programs are listed at abilenetx.gov/apl/Calendar.
