The Billy Enriquez Branch Library held its annual Sugar Skulls Workshop on Saturday, Oct. 31, at 3:30 p.m. in the multipurpose room of the Billy Enriquez Recreation Center.

Everyone got a sugar skull, or calavera, and the library supplied colorful materials to decorate it. No art experience was needed, and the workshop was free for all ages.

The program also covered the history of Día de los Muertos, the Mexican holiday on Nov. 1 and 2 when families honor loved ones who have died with ofrendas, photos, flowers and favorite foods. Sugar skulls often sit on those altars as a cheerful reminder of the people being remembered.
