An Abilene Public Library card gets you into a set of online databases that work 24/7 from any computer, tablet or phone at no cost. The library has been featuring one each week this fall.

For cooks, AtoZ Food America and AtoZ World Food hold thousands of recipes, plus about 1,200 articles each on regional dishes, dining customs and special-occasion foods. America's News, from NewsBank, searches current and archived coverage from more than 200 Texas publications, including back issues of the Dallas Morning News, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and the Austin American-Statesman.

The EBSCO eBook Collection offers thousands of full-text books from academic and trade publishers and includes an AI-assisted search option. Gale Business: Entrepreneurship is built around the stages of starting and running a business. It covers accounting, marketing, taxes and hiring, lets you browse by business type, from bakeries to food trucks, and includes sample business plans.

The library's Cookbook Club, a monthly potluck for adults 18 and older, is back too. It's run with the Sears Recreation Center. Members register, pick a recipe on the month's theme from a library cookbook, and bring enough to share with about 15 people.

All of the databases are listed at abilenetx.gov/apl/Databases.
