Hardin-Simmons safety Harrison Foster has been named a National Football Foundation National Scholar-Athlete and one of 18 finalists for the 2026 William V. Campbell Trophy, which goes to the top scholar-athlete in college football. The finalists were picked from a record 206 semifinalists.

Foster, from Sweetwater, is the only Division III player among the finalists. He is the second Hardin-Simmons player to be named an NFF National Scholar-Athlete and the first since 2009. Each finalist gets an $18,000 scholarship for graduate school, and the winner will be named at the foundation's awards dinner in Las Vegas on Dec. 8.

Foster graduated summa cum laude in May with a finance degree and a 3.91 GPA and is now working on an MBA. He was the American Southwest Conference's 2025-26 Man of the Year and an Associated Press second-team All-American in 2025.

On the field, he has twice returned interceptions 97 yards for touchdowns, tying the program record for its longest defensive score. The second one came this season against McMurry in the crosstown Wilford Moore Trophy game. Off the field, he has volunteered with Special Olympics of West Texas and read to students in local elementary schools.
