Beanstack, the app the Abilene Public Library uses for its summer reading challenge, is now running challenges all year, with more planned for 2027.

Fall challenges include the Texas Bluebonnet Award list for students in grades 3 through 6, who finish by reading five of the 20 picks. There's also a Halloween reading challenge and a books-and-food challenge that sends readers to cookbooks, food mysteries and the library's recipe databases.

Coming next are a quest-style challenge for teens working toward 'Reading Legend' status and a monthly themed challenge for young readers.

Readers log books and activities and earn digital badges along the way. Sign up at abilenetxlib.beanstack.org or in the Beanstack app with an Abilene library card.
